High Potential and Gifted Education
At Narromine High School, we support students who show special talents and abilities in four important areas: creative, thinking skills, physical skills, and social and emotional skills. Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program helps these students to grow and do their best.
What We Believe
We want every student to have the chance to develop their talents and enjoy learning in many ways.
How We Find and Help Students
Teachers, test results, and observations help us find students with high potential. Once found, we provide learning activities that match their talents and interests.
What Students Do in the Program
Students take part in different activities that help their skills grow:
- Creative Activities: Dancing with Dinawans Connection, performing in the NSW Schools Spectacular, joining PULSE ALIVE events, and being part of the Art Program where students explore painting, drawing, and other art forms.
- Thinking Skills: Joining in local and regional public speaking competitions that challenge a student's academic work to build their thinking and communication skills.
- Physical Activities: Taking part in sports at regional and state levels and being involved in targeted sports programs. Our Targeted Sport Talent Development program is designed to help students with strong sporting abilities reach their full potential. Through specialised coaching, training sessions, and participation in regional and state competitions, students develop their skills, fitness, and teamwork. This program encourages students to excel in their chosen sports while balancing their academic goals. We provide ongoing support to nurture talent and promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
- Social and Emotional Skills: Leading and joining groups like the Student Representative Council (SRC), Narromine Shire Youth Council, and GRIP Leadership workshops. These roles help build confidence, teamwork, and leadership. Students also take part in mentoring and wellbeing activities.

For students in Years 11 and 12, we offer special tutoring to help them prepare for their final exams (HSC). This support includes extra lessons, study tips, and help with subjects.
