Special Religious Education

At Narromine High School, Special Religious Education is delivered on a weekly basis, every Friday.

Narromine High School has included one period per week of Special Religious Education (SRE) into the timetable of the students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. This is provide the opportunity in class time for education in ethics, faith and morality from a religious or non-religious perspective at the choice of parents/carers.

Special Religious Education classes are provided thanks to the generous support of the combined churches of Narromine and Trangie.

Special religious education (SRE) is education in the beliefs and practices of an approved religious persuasion. Under the Education Act 1990, section 32External link, government schools allow time for special religious education. It is delivered by authorised representatives of approved religious groups to students who have nominated that religion.

On enrolment parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the front office, in writing.
