Career Development

At Narromine High School we encourage students to think about their career as the sequence and variety of paid and un-paid jobs throughout their life.

Our students today are likely to have five or six career changes and maybe up to 15 changes in employment in their life. Changes may include moving from part-time to full-time work, balancing work and study and changing employers.

Our Approach

The Careers Advice Team oversees education and advice focusing on the principles and processes involved in having successful careers.

Mrs Jan Davison helps oversee the process of Career Education and advice.

We run a Year 10 Career Education course, including a number of vocational courses for Year 10 after the School Certificate exams, plus an opportunity for a week of work experience at the end of the year.

Year 12 students have regular careers time where the principles of career determination are discussed, along with the opportunity to engage with a variety of visitors to the school including speakers talking about applying for work and going to university and TAFE.

Parents are welcome to contact the Careers Advisor directly via email at jan.dowling@det.nsw.edu.au for assistance.
